General Camp

Our General Camp is recommended for girls going into 2nd through 10th grades who want a well-rounded program. For this two-week or four-week session, the girls are divided into several units based on their grade and age, and get to participate in five daily camp activities:

• Horseback Riding
• Performing Arts
• Aquatics
• Arts & Crafts
• Sports

Camp Rim Rock’s schedule is arranged for the best balance between creative and physical activity. There is a daily siesta after lunch when campers read, write letters and relax. Campers are encouraged to write home frequently.

Camp wide activities such as Olympics, hoedowns, scavenger hunts, sing downs, Sunday picnics, campfires, performances and the final evening’s candle float are highlights of each session.

Riding Camp

We offer Horseback Riding Camp for girls entering 4th through 10th grades. The Horseback Riding Camp is offered the week before our General Camp sessions and at the end of our last General Camp session. It is for girls who have some riding experience.

Riding Camp may be attended as one week session. Many campers like to attend a Riding Camp and complement their stay with the addition of a General Camp Session. Here is a typical day during riding camp:

8:00 a.m. “Rise and Shine”
8:30 a.m. Breakfast – then cleanup
9:30-1:30 p.m. 3 Activity Periods
1:30 p.m. Lunch
2:00-3:00 p.m. Siesta
3:00-5:45 p.m. 2 Activity Periods
6:30 p.m. Dinner
7:45 p.m. Fun Evening Programs

Camp Rim Rock’s Horseback Riding Camp is for horse lovers. The girls who attend our Horseback Riding Camp love horses. They like to groom them, swim with them, learn to care for them and most of all, ride them! We provide an opportunity for girls to do all those activities and more. While learning about horses, they also learn about themselves. Horseback riding increases confidence, teaches responsibility and boosts self esteem.

Excellent instruction in English horseback riding is given at every level for girls entering 4th through 10th grades. Campers receive three to four hours of instruction daily with a riding lesson and a stable management class each day. On alternate days, the campers enjoy a trail ride through our miles of trails or a river ride in the beautiful Cacapon River. We maintain the highest standards in teaching and safety.

Riding Lessons

After a riding evaluation by our Equestrian Director, campers are assigned a horse which best suits their ability. By following the expert instruction of the riding counselors, campers will discover how easy it is to walk, trot and canter with confidence. More advanced riders will perfect jumping fundamentals.

Trail Rides

Skills are expanded as campers enjoy miles and miles of trails winding through our beautiful 500 acres.

Stable Management

One of the daily activities includes the care, fitting of tack, bathing, grooming and braiding of the camp’s 60+ horses. The older girls learn to lunge and long rein. We also provide demonstrations from the farrier and other equestrian specialists.

River Rides

Our program includes a fun experience unlike any other. Campers are able to ride some of our horses in the river and even end the session with some “slip’n’slide”. It’s an unforgettable experience that our campers and horses love.

Mini Camp

Our Mini Camp includes Sports, Aquatics, Performing Arts, Arts and Crafts and FUN Evening Activities. All the same great activities as our general sessions, but fit into one week so there is no time for horseback riding.

Mini Camp is a one week introductory camp for rising 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders who have not attended Camp Rim Rock before. It is a week of camp designed to introduce first time campers to “sleepaway camp”.

Mini Camp is offered in June. Campers may attend Mini Camp for one year only.
